May I put these boards in the dishwasher?

No. Take care of your boards and they will achieve heirloom quality. Wash gently with Dawn and warm water, sparingly. Do not submerge or place in the dishwasher. Sanitize with white vinegar. Just wipe down and let dry. With time the board will roughen. Refresh with butcher block conditioner. I prefer beeswax based products. A few passes with 220 grit sandpaper will do wonders.

May I use these products or are they just for show?

They can be for show and that is just fine. But, they are made to be used too. Just know that they will show wear and tear if used hard. If you take care of them they will last into heirloom quality. Do not put in the dishwasher.

DO you take on commissions?

Yes. Email me and we can discuss. I enjoy taking a challenge.

What wood do you work with?

Mainly Texas Black Walnut, Pecan and Mesquite. I get some Texas Escarpment Cherry ever so often but it goes fast. Cedar elm, cedar (Juniper), American Elm, Soapberry, hackberry and white ash have all made their way thru my shop too.

What is your favorite wood to work with?

By far my favorite wood to turn is mesquite. Something about the yellow sap wood and the milky brown figuring of this tree makes me happy. Mesquite also stays put as it dries. For cutting boards I prefer Black Walnut.  Its grain is tight and it looks magnificent end grain.
